If not sixty, during last forty years we have been choosing our leaders who thought that their job was to rule us and fill their coffers. In their efforts the bureaucrats and criminals joined them and corrupted the whole system to the present extant. They were sleeping over the problems of national security fully knowing the nefarious designs of China and Pakistan. Our politicians and bureaucrats knew well what our neighbors were doing across the borders and inside India. Still they could not stop the inflected wars and continuous terrorist attacks on our soil culminating in 26/11 when a couple of terrorists took the whole nation to ransom and put India to shame. It is a matter of great shame that a tiny “rogue state” like Pakistan and a few terrorist outfits there can cause so much of damage to our lives, property and prestige again and again and we do not retaliate. Why we have to be on the defensive? Why India with ten times of their size, resources and military might is not hitting them back in the same manner? It is because our leadership is disoriented, weak and selfish. Our leaders go crying to America and others to save us from Pakistan and its terrorists. Why can’t we do it ourselves? Are we afraid of the nuclear weapons Pakistan has? India has much more and better ones. If they drop ten we can drop hundred and finish them all together. If so they should be more afraid than us. Are our leaders waiting to fight with Pakistan and terrorists when they become better equipped with more nuclear weapons and resources? We have to fight our war ourselves. If war is inevitable, which it is, let us fight it now than later. They have entered in our house and killed Hindus, Muslims and Christians, Americans, British, Israelis and people from other countries. The whole world is supporting India and condemning terrorism and knows that the killers were from Pakistan. There can be no better time to teach them a lesson when the whole nation is united on the issue and world opinion is in support to finish the terrorism. We can not expect Pakistan to finish terrorists from their soil and hand over the terrorists to us because there is no ONE government to take decision. There is a weak civilian govt, self imposing Army, ISI and the Taliban groups supported by Al-Qaida. Defensive attitude will yield no immediate results. Leave the diplomacy for the long time strategy and take quick direct action to save the national prestige. Even though tolerance is in our psyche and destiny is our belief, we are not cowards. We have been sleeping for too long. It is late enough. Better wake up Indian politicians. Do not put the nation to shame any more. Jaago Yaaro; Jaago Bharat.

The editorial “Passion play” is not only unfair but smells of hidden motives to dissuade Baba Ramdev from his noble cause and create misunderstanding and confusion in the minds of the masses and those supporting Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev. India is ranked as the most corrupt nation of the world courtesy our corrupt politicians, babus and others who have amassed lakhs of crores of rupees out side India. If this wealth was utilized for the welfare of our poor people millions would not have died of starvation. The punishment of killing one human is death by hanging. What is wrong if he is asking capital punishment for those who have caused the death of these millions or would be causing millions to die like this in future? Branding him as a “commissar” meaning a communist official responsible for political education or head of a government department in Russia or China is nothing less than ridiculous. He is a very proud and respected citizen of India. What is preventing in declaring the black money kept out of India as national wealth and bringing it back? Those who are preventing have vested interests and TOI knows better. Baba Ramdev has given his demands which are very clear and just. If the constitution requires a change, it must be changed in the interest of the wellbeing of the masses of this nation who can not fight for their rights without the strength of people like Ramdev and Anna hazare who are staking their lives for the sake of the nation.

Govt is diverting the attention of the nation from the main issues raised by Baba Ram Dev and Anna Hazare. Their main issues in principle are to;
ReplyDelete1. Bring the Indian black money back from other countries. This can change the fate of millions and our nation as a whole.
2. Confiscate and make it national property. After all this is ill gotten swindled money which rightly belongs to the nation? And those who own it are not poor people who can not survive without it.
3. Prosecute those who own this. Law should take its own course.
4. Make deterrent laws to stop corruption; may be punishable with death. Laws made so far have proved of no consequence to the corrupt. Do not make ineffective laws and hoodwink the public. Our constitution is for good governance; amend it if needed. It has been amended so many times.
Now the nation knows that lakhs of crores stashed in foreign banks belong to those who are sitting in government and in power positions out side. They can not make/amend laws to loose their lakhs of crores and punish themselves.
Let there be some compromise; let all the money come back and do not punish those responsible as a one time arrangement. Or give benefit to those who own it; may be 50/50 or 30/70; something like that. At least the money would come back to benefit the nation. Make strong laws to stop recurrence of stashing corrupt-money in and out of India. We can be a corruption free nation if we have the will. Time has come to show this Will by those who govern and those governed. Democracy is for the people, by the people and not only for and by those who are perforce chosen by the people in the present Indian democratic system. This system is not working as required. Those in power are looking after their interests well but not of others who deserve and not the poor public and nation at large. Many parties ridden with criminals; many coalitions; weak and corrupt governments! Apart from and after these issues, go for the political and administrative system change.
